On the view user permissions page (see http://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-10130 for instructions how to get to it), before each permission there is an icon clicking which produces a trace of how each permission was derived.

There should be an explanation of that functionality. It can be placed below everything else if space usage is a concern, and on top otherwise.
