Description
On a phpBB based forum, there are sometimes visitors which make a typo during the registration process in their e-mail address (Note: The "Please repeat your address" is fairly useless because most users use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V so they also copy their own typo!). In that case, the visitor never receives the message with the activation link.
The actual issue: When such a visitor wants to register himself again with his correct e-mail address and its username, the board blocks the registration with a "This username already exist. Please choose another one" (Note: This text may differ because I have installed the German language pack).
My feature/bug fix request for phpBB 3.0.3: The "already exists" message should be produced only when this user has done a successful activation. In case of a not yet activated account, the database record simply can be overwritten without question.
Thanks in advance for implementing this modification in the next phpBB release.
