Prosilver requires a fresh look for phpBB v4 for a couple of reasons;

1. The codebase is extremely old and has had possibly hundreds of people chop and change it over the years which has caused the codebase to be messy and difficult to build upon.
2. Prosilver looked great back in the early 00s but now looks outdated and phpBB v4 needs to come with a new, fresher look.
3. phpBB v4 is a perfect opportunity to incorporate a new design structure to allow style authors to build new, more exciting styles with a solid foundation to work from.
4. From a marketing perspective, prosilver as it is currently cannot be the face of a new version of phpBB because it does not send a positive message that the software is improving and evolving if it looks exactly the same.

Prosilver v2 should remain as 'prosilver' in the codebase for compatibility reasons but for all intents and purposes be a different style. It needs a proper foundation of HTML elements, better CSS and minimal JavaScript now that modern browsers are capable of lots of things that previously heavily relied on JavaScript functions to achieve.

Design discussion will take place on the phpBB forums where appropriate but material will also be shared here too for consistency. The idea for this 'new style' is that it should look familiar to classic / current prosilver but clearly be a new iteration of it to support the new features included within phpBB 4.0.
