This scenario takes into account that the "Newly registered users" group is enabled on some forums.

When someone registers, they are placed into both the "Registered users" group and "Newly registered users" group at the same time. While the "Never" permissions of the "Newly registered users" group prevents new users from doing certain things, the "No" permissions become null and void due to the default "Yes" permissions from the "Registered users" group. This makes the "No" permissions of the "Newly registered users" group completely pointless.

One of two things should happen to correct this:

      • Either all of the default "No" role permissions for the "Newly registered users" group needs to be set to "Never" in order to actually have effect and mean anything since the "Yes" role permissions from the "Registered users" group nullify everything, or...
      • New users get placed into the "Newly registered users" group only and not the "Registered users" group until they meet the minimum post requirement specified by the forums to get automatically removed from the "Newly registered users" group and placed into the "Registered users" group. Using this solution would mean the "No" and "Never" settings can remain as they are for the "Newly registered users" group.
