      Description

      Howdy guys,

I had a thought to add a bunch of friends to see if the sidebar had a cut off point, turns out it doesn't, well not to my knowledge.

Perhaps a cut off at 10 offline/online each, then links to the friends page?

Please see the screenshot for pretty colours.

      Thanks, Alex.

this is not a bug... o_O

Why to cut off the list ? The only missing is a "online" / "offline" mark.

So, you want the list to continue if there is 1000 friends? This is the issue, at 50 or so it is fine, but there is no cut off point..

        Thanks, Alex..

I can see what you are saying, but when composing a PM, the friends list has the Add buttons so you can easily add friends as recipients. In your suggestion, what if the friend you want to PM is after the cutoff? It destroys functionality IMO.

A more sensible solution would be to have them in a div that can overflow with a scrollbar. The scrollbar might not look nice, but neither does the long list in your screenshot. Also, if the max-height of said div is suitably large, most users will never see the ugly scrollbar

        That's a good idea.

Maybe I don't understand, however this doesn't seem to be "bug worthy" IMO.

Starware, if you take a look at the screenshot I posted, it lists ~40 members on the friends list and look how much space it uses compared to the main content of the window, now imagine a friends list of 100's, 1000's, imagine the scale of the problem then, not only is it annoying to load that many, it also is just a bit ugly..

        Thanks, Alex.

I'll throw in my idea for this...

Put a Back/Next button on the list and only show 5-10 friends who are online/offline.

I did something like that for the Friends List plugin for the user blog mod:

We could also just add overflow-y: auto
