Description
Hello,
I've been attempting to modify the logo of my phpBB installation.
This was a sufficiently difficult job (needed to do CSS customizations, and imageset.css which was the correct file to use in 3.1.x got removed in an UNDOCUMENTED manner in commit 5988e3a192a, thus not available and not serviced in e.g. 3.2.x).
"[3.2] Neuling möchte Banner anpassen..." https://www.phpbb.de/community/viewtopic.php?t=239522#p1367550
talks of adding a
@import url("custom.css");
to styles/prosilver/theme/stylesheet.css
in order to be able to do local customizations in a cleanly separate custom.css file.
The question mark that immediately came up in my head was:
"why the h*k does there seem to be no default infrastructure for *already providing such a customization hook in a default install?"
Due to apparent lack of such a customization offer in default code of certain phpBB themes, users will be tempted/forced to add their custom hacks in all sorts of different places, which will greatly increase the pain for changed administrators (or even the same admin after a couple of months only!) when trying to figure out whether/where the phpBB [theme] code base is changed.
If such a hook is the way to go, then one should also think of a properly precise file name (custom.css possibly is not a sufficiently obvious description).
If such a hook happens to already exist, then possibly the reference link pointer to it is not obvious enough.
Thanks!
