Can't choose different method for update

    Description

      When updating from 3.0.2-b2 to 3.0.2-RC2 and I chose FTP direct upload, system presented a timeout error which is fine, however, clicking back on the update tab I can not choose a different way to update and am stuck in a loop (continually states timeout error). Only way I could re-try different method was to delete the file created in the store directory (install_update.php I believe it was named).

      If the chosen method used to update fails, then the user should be able to re-start from square one.
