Replace AJAX loading info pop up with animation

The current "Loading please wait" popup when an AJAX request is sent is rather annoying as it dominates the whole screen. This is quite noticeable when the function being used does not display a success message in the standard popup as the message appears for a second or two and then suddenly disappears after the request is complete. See attached image for suggested replacement.
