Improve Notifications and PMs in the header

The header links for the Notifications as well as the Private messages are inconsistent, and could benefit from the following makeover (seemingly universally agreed upon in discussion at Area51 http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=42829&start=260#p256779)

Would like some feedback on the look/layout/direction we should go in

This is how the Notification/PM links look currently:

Option 1 - Retains the verbose PM information regarding New messages, Unread Messages

Option 2 - Truncated the verbose PM information a little bit to make things a little more streamlined:

Option 3 - Non-verbose. Just Private Messages (#). Looks the best IMO
