      Description

In many panels at the bottom appears a status message of the kind "You are not <state> to any <object>" e.g. "You are not subscribed to any forums", when that is manifestly untrue.
      See attached screenshot.

The terminology used in the specific example shown in the screenshot is also potentially confusing, since the title is "Watched Forums" but the message uses the word topics.

You can subscribe to forums and to topics. First, there is a list of "watched forums", then there is a list of "watched topics". The second one is empty and thus not shown and replaced by the message "You are not subscribed to any topics.". So the message sounds correct to me.

I agree that, while correct, could lead to confusion. What's missing is a header right above the message that says "Watched Topics" to match the "Watched Forums" header above. This will assert the idea that there are two separate watchable sections.

As is, it looks like that message is talking about the "Watched Forums" section, since it's listed under that header.

I don't really see this as necessary. It shows "Watched Forums", then "Watched Topics". There is text to differ between the two, so what else is there that needs to be clarified?

I agree it's not necisary for most people, but it makes it much clearer for some people to be able to visually see the two types of subscriptions.

I believe in Don't Make Me Think(tm) school of usability philosophy. I think this furthers this cause.

Also, subsilver2 theme did it this way, so it adds consistancy to the themes.
